We exist to help people on the Peninsula build strength, confidence and consistency without burning out or feeling like they don’t belong.

Makin Health & Fitness was created from lived experience, not fitness trends. We know what it’s like to work hard in gyms that lack structure, clarity and genuine coaching. That’s why everything we do is built around purposeful programming, small group training and support that meets you where you’re at.

This is a space for everyday people. A community that values progress over perfection, structure over chaos and training that actually fits real life.

BOOK A 1:1 SESSION

Hi, I'm Alexandra Makin, the head trainer and owner at Makin Health and Fitness Studio,  I'd like to share a little bit about myself and my journey to help clients reach their health and fitness goals in a sustainable way.

I didn’t always feel confident in gyms and I definitely didn’t always feel like I belonged in them.

I’ve been the one second-guessing myself, following programs I didn’t understand and feeling like everyone else knew what they were doing except me. I trained hard, jumped between approaches, and pushed through phases of being “all in”, only to burn out and start again. Over time, that cycle doesn’t just wear you down physically, it slowly chips away at confidence. That experience changed how I see training. I became a coach because I wanted to understand why things work, not just copy workouts or chase quick results. I wanted structure, clarity, and a way of training that people could actually stick to without feeling overwhelmed or judged.

Makin Health & Fitness was built from that place.
This studio exists so people don’t have to feel lost, rushed, or intimidated when they walk into a gym. We focus on structured, strength-based programs, small group coaching, and genuine support, so you feel guided, not thrown in the deep end. You don’t need to know what you’re doing when you start. You just need to show up.
MHFS isn’t about perfection or pushing harder for the sake of it. It’s about learning how to train properly, building confidence over time and feeling strong in a way that fits your life.

That’s the gym I needed when I started.
So it’s the one I built.
